Abstract:
Objective To research the effect of Microscopic ultrasound technique in the treatment of calcified atretic root canals in elderly patients. Methods 159 elderly patients and 264 calcified root canals were studied and divided into 2 groups. In the experimental group, 95 patients with 152 calcified root canal dredged the root canal under microscope combined with ultrasound technology and the success rate of dredged root canal was calculated. In the control group, 64 cases of 112 calcified root canals were only detected and dredged by manual C file combined with machine reaming drill. Both groups were prepared with nickel-titanium root canal preparation, hot tooth gum root filling, and complete root canal treatment. Results In this study, the two groups made comparative analysis through X-ray (preoperative, middle and postoperative), and recorded the different tooth positions and calcification of the affected teeth in detail and evaluated them objectively. In the experimental group, 152 elderly patients had calcified root canals, There were 131 calcified closed root canals that were successfully unblocked.with success rate of 86.18%.In the control group,112 patients had calcified root canals, There were 61 calcified closed root canals that were successfully unblocked.with success rate of 54.46%.Conclusion To use the Microscopic ultrasound technique is effective for dredging calcified root canals in the treatment of elderly patients.
