Abstract:
Worldwide, the incidence of diabetes and bladder cancer has continued to rise and both diseases seriously harm human's health. From existing studies, it has been found that both diseases may have some associated biological mechanisms in the occurrence and progress, and thus have an impact on the incidence and prognosis of bladder cancer in diabetic patients. A number of studies have shown that there is a complex correlation between diabetes and bladder cancer, but at the same time there are also opposing views. This article reviews the epidemiological characteristics, common risk factors, potential biological mechanisms linking diabetes mellitus and bladder cancer, effects of anti-diabetic medication in bladder cancer, and the effects of diabetes on the prognosis of bladder cancer.
